Nick Drake's meditative folk fusion with Clubi da Esquina! Rio de Janeiro's big newcomer Nicolas Gerardi, following Barra Desello and Ana Frango Eletrico, has released his debut album!

■Nicolas Gerardi is a singer-songwriter from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, just 25 years old. He was familiar with music from an early age, and formed his first band “Ente (Ente)” when he was 18 years old. It seems that the person in charge was Bass. However, in 2022, Nicholas left the band. I made up my mind to concentrate on my solo career. This work “Em Outro Lugar do Ceu” (2024) is his memorable 1st solo album.

■The characteristic of his music is that it is greatly influenced by Minas music, especially “Clubi da Esquina” (meaning “street club”, the Minas music family centered around Milton Nascimento) from the 1970s to the 80s. Rather than Milton Nascimento, it was also greatly influenced by artists with a darker rock vibe, such as Lo Borges, Beto Getsis, and Flavio Venturini. An ecstatic singing voice like a hymn, the romanticism typical of Minas, the sparkling sound of a guitar, a lyrical melody... Every song is full of longing and love for “Clubi da Esquina.” At the same time, George Harrison and Nick Drake, whom Nicholas sincerely admires, as well as Mac DeMarco, who is a universal indie hero, and even the majestic nature of Rio de Janeiro are inspirations.

■The participating musicians are also gorgeous, Guilherme Lirio (Gt. /Producer), Sergio Machado (Dr.) , Alberto Continentino (Ba.) There is a lineup of people supporting the contemporary Brazilian music scene, such as Dora Morelenbaum (Vo.), who have been involved in works by Ana Frango Eletrico and Barra Desello. This formation, which can be said to be unusual for his debut work, can be said to be proof that many musicians have paid tribute to his exceptional talent.

This is the first newcomer film in which many people such as Guilherme Lirio and Rio's New Generation Toshihide participated.
